Tank Snails!!!! Arggg!

A 55 gallon tank is the average size for that size of turtle.

I caught about 100 of the little buggers today and have them in an old betta jar with a lid. They really love the little plant pellets. Depends on the shipping cost!

Think they could survive the cold with shipping?

seriously i didnt even know you could have snails in the fish tank. can you just buy some from petsmart or something... my cichlids would love to devour them....

I'm sure they could survive the cold from the shipping. I'm also pretty sure they can survive out of water for a while.

Just pack them in a priority flat rate box in a pop bottle with the lid screwed on tight. Back it full of news paper so it doesn't slosh around too much and send it out. Just be sure you label it as a liquid.

I have heard this before. However, I have three loaches, and plenty of snails. I have seen one of my loaches eating a snail. Once.

It depends on the loach, and the snails. Some loaches are better at snail eating than others. And trumpet snails are tough for any fish to get at. Strong shells and tight "seals." Also depends how much you feed. If the loaches are getting enough of the easy to get at fish food, they are not going to make the effort to go after the snails.

If you are going to send them, I would definitely put a heat pack in with them. I ordered snails in the winter once and the mail lady stuck the package all the way in the back of the mail box and I didn't find it for a whole day. By then the heat pack had run out and they were all dead.

You may need to put in a heat pack, but these anails are pretty hardy. Especially when compared to mystery snails and the like.
