I think I might be wrong... looks pyrantel pamoate and piperazine shouldn't be used together.

@IronEagle , you could also use just praziquantil (also sold as Droncit) tablets for dogs and cats. Do *not* use Drontal as it has praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate, which together might be lethal in chickens. Need to find that source to verify, so don't quote me on that just yet.

Killing the tapeworms head is the key in any animal. That's what praziquantel and albendazole do in poultry as well as other animals...safe, effective treatment.I know we're talking about treating tapes in chickens, but a double dose of pyrantel is said to treat tapes in horses.

As I said, I don't have the info in front of me but I remember reading somewhere that one of the horse dewormers that has praziquantel in it plus another medication happens to be toxic to birds. It must be the prazi/pyrantel (and I can't remember which brand that goes under) as Kathy has stated which is the toxic combo. We must have read the same publication.Impolite? No, you stated that praziquantel mixed with moxidectin is toxic to birds aka Quest Plus. Moxidectin Plus (Quest Plus) CAN be used in poultry to treat tapes. I've used it. Dosing must be exact...that's why I dont recommend it. It's much safer to use z-gold or equimax.

Check out Hygromycin B.
This is one I haven't seen before:

Below is what their website says and a chicken is a galliform, so it should work is you give the correct dose. I know the praziquantil dose needs to be 10mg per 2.2 pounds, but not sure about the pyrantel, so have to look that up.![]()
