Tatanka Breeders Club: Meat Quail project with history, discussion, pictures and videos

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.. He is doing well today and eating/drinking.. I'll keep a good eye on it and record weights as it grows.(I am avoiding "he" as I am hoping it's a hen..lol)
Just to note, in case you get another "big" egg,. I candled the 21 gr. egg and only ever saw one yolk that's why I decided to hatch it.. Check them if you get another, we could be onto something. I know little of genetics outside of what Moby has posted here(thanks, Moby), so it could just be a chance for an even larger quail breed. This egg only took a few hours longer to hatch but was still @ 17 1/2 days...

I had set a few settings of test eggs from #2 and #3 biggest F2 Tatanka "split hens" crossed back to their Grandsire Tatanka "wildtype" Cockbird.

tatankas cannot be bought or sold, they must be gifted from a steward to a new steward.

also, I think its too hot to ship quail eggs from now to fall...

Ohh thanks for the reply moby. But whats a steward? Sorry im new to this:(

By "steward" TD means, "one who cares for", If you will.... Or "Keeper of the Tatanka" would work too. There are a few around.... Good luck with your quest. Bill

Thank you bill. That was verry helpful:) I have some jumbos that are at 14 oz but I just cant breed them bigger then that I think I need a new blood line. And my names julio nice to meet you
