Tattoos and piercings

Just man up @dawg it feels like an ongoing cat scratch. No big deal.

My artist will not even do a tattoo if you use numbing cream. The pain is part of the experience. But there are other artists at the same shop that will not only tattoo you, but will even give it to you beforehand.

Oh man

I chose this man for a reason. Instead of self injury, I now go for tattoos. Same result (pain and a scar, and a vast amount of emotional relief), but with the added bonus of having something meaningful permanently embedded into my skin. People can see what matters to me by what I get tattooed. And even though I would not go out and get the same tattoos again if I had to start over, I do not end up regretting them. They are my story. And one day I will be old and broken and I will be able to look at them all and remember everything that once had meaning to me (unless I get dementia, then I can just look at the pretty pictures).

For me, tattoos come before all other forms of pleasure. If I think that something is going to make me happy, I just think of the amount of relief I get while getting a tattoo, and I pocket my money. I have a tax return coming in next month, so I am going to get all 6 tattoos done in a go and finally get some mental peace after the crappy year I had.

I have all of the major "oh shit, that is going to hurt!" spots tattooed. The worst, by far, is the thigh. I did not flinch at having my bony foot done, my ankles, my hand, or my wrists. But lord, I felt every puncture of the needles on my thigh.

My cousin was a tough guy. He got one on his neck and never flinched.
Years after I was done getting any I got the whole set up and started giving some.
He came by one day and asked if he could use everything. I asked why since he'd already had me do a few for him. He said he and his wife wanted to give each other one tat. Neither were artistic so it was to good of an opportunity to pass up.
Couple days later his wife showed me a little rose on her lower leg. Surprisingly it wasn't bad. Mostly because it was a real simple design. I asked what he got and asked to see it. He refused and refused any talk about it. Of course that just meant game on and I proceeded to hound him to no end.
He finally broke and said it was on his butt. I was like why? Why? Why? He explained that neither had much faith in her skills so he decided best to pick a spot that no one would ever see so if it turned out bad.
I was dieing and asked.... so? How did it turn out and what was it, etc? He said it's a line. I was... a what? He said it was one single line about 3/4 of an inch long. I was so confused until he said that damn thing hurt like hell. Hurt so bad I was done at that point. No more.
I gave him so much crap over the years about that. I mean girls get tats on their butts all the time right? Who knew?

I've never used the numbing cream, so not sure if it works or not, but it's an option.
