Yup. I distinctly remember the finger tattoos, whether it be a mustache, or some small phrase, but it was definitely popular to get a teeny tattoo, and if there were letters, they were always calligraphic

With a lot of people, it seems to be more of a generational and/or religious reason, rather than a general acceptance issue.

I have a piercing appointment on Friday, and if I cannot get the piercing I want, I am getting my septum done. I have an irrational fear of having my nose pierced, but just so many people in my family think they are ugly, I will not be able to help myself from doing something that they are so against.

Yes, I go out of my way to piss off everyone with something so trivial.

There is also the song New Tattoo by Mötley Crüe. That is the only song I know with that word in the title.

I mean, I'm a Christian but even the "verses" people whip out to defend their stance are taken out of context, so IMHO the only reason to object is if they're like Nazi tatts or something
I guess in my protestant circle they're just widely regarded as cool and even beautiful. Also, most old folks I know are super tatted.
