Tattoos; Good, Bad, Ugly, Pretty...?

I love tattoos. I have 7 and there is only one I wish I never got. Its a celtic arm band. The others all have deep meaning and I drew them all myself. But agree with everyone else. You should be able to hide it if you want to. Make sure youre going to love it when your old. Have some meaning. And feel VERY VERY confident in the artist. Good luck with your dicision.

So, I emailed a drawing of the design to BF, and he thinks it's neat but still doesn't want me to get a tattoo. His reasoning is still that I'm too pretty for tattoos and he doesn't want me to have pictures on me. He also said I don't need his permission to get a tattoo, and that he won't be angry at me if I get one done. He just thinks I'm too young and I have a lot of life to live still.

I still want a tattoo, I still want the design I have worked up. I'll wait and see over the summer and do a few test areas with the alcohol based makeup.

So, does anyone want to share any stories of when they got their tattoos, first or otherwise?

If you have to ask others for thier opinion, then you probably are not ready yet. Get it when you are sure. And your BF's idea of waiting 1 year to see if you still want the design you pick sounds like a good one.

I plan to get 2 small and I mean small tatoos. I am unsure where. I don't want them to be visible because I plan to be a teacher. I know where I want them but think it'd hurt and would mess up. Like on the inside of my heand between my thumb and pointer finger.

on the Left hand I want my nonbiological grandfathers initials above a fish outline like this

on my Right hand I want a dove with my grandmothers (not related to grandfather, other side of family) initials

Inside both of the outlines I want a cancer ribbon.

Try to avoid getting tattoos in places that get a lot of contact, i.e. feet, hands, etc. It's very likely that the ink will fade and the lines will blur. The inside of your hand is a bad, bad place, for this reason. I'm sure if you talked to an experienced tattoo artist he'd tell you the same.

ETA: Is that first outline of a bass-like fish or a whale? It's a little hard to make out...

Oh and if you are a girl, pre baby... DONT get one on your tummy or hips

My friend got a dolphin on her hip and a gecko on her tummy near her belly button... PRE baby..

the dolphin now looks like Shamoo had a stroke and the gecko looks like a crocodile with a birth defect

Yeah, I knew it's a bad place, I'll probably end up getting it on my shoulder or something, but I so wish I could get it there. And it's a bass, not the best outline, I have one hand drawn that is better but that's the only one I found for example wise. He was an avid fisherman.

There are certain types of tattoos I don't favor.I don't really like the big ones. I don't like the dragons or fire or things like that.I think too many of them is unnesesscary. And the black ones just look frightening.
Once, I was at this waterpark when I found a stand where they gave out temporary tattoos. My mom, my brother and I decided we all wanted one. My brother got a dragon on his arm. I could barely look at him for a week. My mom got a black-ink design that scared me for the next three days. And I got a colorful, pink-and-orange butterfly on my shoulder. I thought it was pretty on me. If I got a permanent one, it would look like that.

I also don't like tattoos from the middle (except hands and arms) down.

Just IMO.

I don't really like tattoos that cover your entire body or that you can't easily cover up. I also think every tattoo should mean something, not just oh I feel like a tattoo today lets go and regret it next week.
