Ok.. Im getting this large back piece. I mean by large. Its takes up half of my back. My back is almost done except for a small area. Which is scar tissue and is way more painful than the rest. To get it finished, please dont call me a wimp.. What is the best tattoo numbing cream or spray..

hemmoraide ((sp??)) cream was recommended when i got mine..many years ago.....gotta say ..i have REGRETTED..getting a tatoo ...different reasons..i had allergic reaction after getting it..first year all yellow rashed-blistered..itched so bad..yr #2 all orange & 3rd yr..reds..itch..blistered..itched soooo badly. even tho it drove me crazy i do wish all the rest would go to. i got a tatoo near ankle..which i can never see unless i twist my leg sideways..so who did i get it for?? me or the world?? and for religious reasons i have guilt & shame becuz of it. i do wish mine was gone .

I'm totally the opposite from soap&eggs. I love my tats and can't wait until I have the cash to get 3 more I have already designed.

Sorry but I really don't know of anything to help numb the area, but a good ol' fashion ice pack. I'd be too afraid whatever you sprayed on it would get in it and hurt even worse if not get it infected or something.

Tats are what you make them. They can be the same as everybodyelse or you can make them unique. Each one of mine has a special meaning behind it. Except for the one I got on a dare as a kid at the county fair, lol

i have two one of which i regret and the other is symbolic and I LOVE IT! it is a tree frog, I got it blue with a red and orange belly and red eyes. I later had someone I knew add a crown and flower (wish I hadnt he kinda sucked so much for him being professional.... he worked at a fantastic tat shop too!) I havent heard of anything except maybe lidocaine ointment but as someone else said, I would worry about it getting into the tattoo and either messing up the ink or getting infected. I would go to the shop and ask one of the artists.

tattoo's hurt like hell but I would worry about getting what ever you put on it in the open tat. because you could have a reaction to it once it get into your body even if you don't have one with it on your skin. I just had one last night took 4 hours. lol it was sooooo tender but I'd its something you really want its worth it in the end. also most tat places that use that stuff won't garentee there work if they use that stuff so ask first. good luck.

Emla Cream. You'll need a prescription for it though. My daughter was deathly afraid of needles when she was younger....a friend of mine worked in Children's Hospital and she said they used it when they had to give babies IV's.

I also used it when I got a tat on a very tender area.....

Worked like a charm!

I wouldn't put anything on it. The scar tissue does sting a bit more, but it's really not that bad once it gets numb from the needle anyway...well at least not to me. I had one done over and around an old scar...it gets numb just like the others. The initial sting only lasts a little while just like a regular tat. I'd be afraid of getting the numbing stuff into my body as well....I dunno what kind of reaction that would/could cause. I don't really regret mine, but mine are very tame. I have 3. Dh has one. He regrets his a bit.

For a piece so big, it will go numb after a half hour or so. There were some spots on mine that hurt more than others, but towards the end I hardly felt anything. This coming from someone who's heart was in their throat the whole drive to the tattoo artist's shop! Other than that, I would say ice will help a bit. My artist was great because she did a little and then paused, did a little then paused. Just when I thought it was starting to hurt bad she would pause for a few seconds then start again. That helped a WHOLE lot.

I'm waiting for mine to stop peeling so I can take a picture. I got mine three days ago.

Thank you for your advice. I think I saw something by that name on ebay.

Ive been asking a few of the tat artists about the creams.. They do have special creams to numb the tats while getting them.. I just wanted to know out of the half dozen types which is the best..
