Hi, I am new to the group, I have adopted ex battery hens for around 4 years now and currently have 12, they very happily live on my allotment and seem very healthy, however a few of them still look really tatty and have lots of feathers missing, could you please advise me on how I get their feathers to grow back
Thanks

Hello! Welcome to BYC!!:frow

That's awesome that you rescue those poor girls. I wonder how battery hens would do on fermented feed. From what I've read the nutrient absorption is superior to dry feed. I know not everyone agrees on that, however. But if they can absorb protein better with that type of feeding, maybe their feathers would regrow better.

Feel free to check out the other links below for some interesting reading. Good luck to you!

ETA: The first link below is on fermented feeds!

They won't regrow feathers overnight but, the difference in their food, living conditions, and your interactions with them will bring about positive changes. Just give it time.
Welcome to Backyard chickens and thank you sincerely for rescuing them. :yesss:
