Tax help needed

I know money might be tight for you, but I think you should really work with an accountant on this. Going back four years to adjust taxes might be a challenge.

We pay $400 to have our normal taxes completed by our accountant, this includes a 1040, Schedule C, Schedule F, Depriciation Schedules, State Taxes, and other forms. That is pretty cheap for the amount of work involved.

If it was Canadian, I would help you. I'm an accountant, and can file as far back as 2002. I can't really think of any 'free' websites. Though H&R Block did offer free online during tax season.

I knows this but maybe the op thinks they need to? Or just wants to thinking they will get the refund?

ETA: thats why I asked.

So do we HAVE to file taxes every year?? What if we dont think we're going to get anything back....do we still have to file?

You should file every year. If you don't owe then you should at least get back what you paid in (federal with-holdings). Maybe there is a stimulus payment due to you or a tax work credit etc.

Unless on just SSI/SSA or just welfare.

I depends upon your income level. If your gross income falls below certain levels, which differ for those who are single, married, over age 65, etc, then you don't have to file.

Obviously, even if your income is below the level where it is required to file, if you paid any withholding on income you are going to want to get that back. If you are very low on income or have children, you may qualify for refundable tax credits, which will get you a "refund" even if you didn't pay anything into the system.
