TB owners?.. not TBs but appys and they are home! update 4/11 NEW PICS

I am going to have my vet out to look at her, not theirs although they did gove me both their vet and farriers numbers as references. I am also having my trainer go out and take a look with me maybe today, hopefully she approves.

I deff showed up when they were not expecting it and intend on doing it again. When I talked to the owners on the phone they said 'come anytime' so I took them up on it and went 3 hours after our convo and will just be stopping in unexpected today to take a look with my trainer.

I am really hoping that I can get her out of there, not that its a bad place, there are just alot of other horses and this girl is not getting any one on one attention at all. Will be calling the vet as soon as I am offline and can hopefully get a vetting appt for later this week.

Went out with my trainer and the vet day before yesterday. The vet is a friend of my trainer so it worked out pretty well, my vet didnt have availability for another week...

The owners were pretty suprised that I showed up with both a trainer and vet. They are an older couple and they breed apps but are getting out and moving away and I dont think they expected all the to-do considering how cheap the mare is. They were great though and humored me despite showing up unannounced.

The vetting went great, she pulled blood, listened to her lungs, heart, checked her eyes, legs, feet, teeth. I opted out of x rays as we are just trailriding and not heavily. So basically everything looks good.....

My trainer gave her the OK too. Says she looks good, lunged her rode her and just messed with her in general. Says that she thinks the mare will work fine for what I am looking for.

So we will be bringing Pie home this weekend.

Also am bringing home her pasture mate.

More later

Congratulations! Have fun!

Actully headed over there now for a visit as they are so close. If I remember I will take a few photos. They can be the 'before' photos

I am also bringing her pasture mate home. 7 y/o 15 hh appy mare....Only green broke but is a huge sweetie, very quiet and just a doll. Had her checked by the vet as well so all is good there other then long feet. She will be going straight to the trainer for 30-60 days of prof. training. Here is a quick (and crappy) pic

Once she gets filled out, along with training, she would be an awesome Appy! Looks like she does not have any spots except one or two I see on her neck. Maybe I'll wait until she sheds out to see what kind of spots she has.

So they are home as of yesterday....going over to see them now and will take the camera for some pics....decided to keep the grey mare with the brown one until they settle down. Then its off to the trainer for her to get finished.....I had a big suprise the day we went to pick them up too. The previous owners decided to give them to us! They are just so glad that they are going to a good home where they will have jobs and we will give them updates that they just gave them to us rather then charge me what we had agreed on!

Off to see them now...pics this evening upon my return!

Very nice!!
And congrats, I think the fact you were willing to have your trainer, a vet and will be sending the one off for training, and you were serious enough to show up not once
but twice unannounced with them in tow....
It to them was more important than money.
I am glad you found what you were looking for, but also willing to follow advice.
Thank you for that, we try to help by giving good advice, and hoping that people will follow it.

Wow, that's great. There are def some really great people in the horse industry, to somewhat offset the weasels

Totally agree with WIChookChick, I think you impressed them as an unusually responsible person
