Seems to me some are questioning the OP's version of the event. Me I'll take her at her word. Far be it from me to say she's not giving an accurate account of the event. Basing my op on that, it seems the teacher is focusing on "Instant gratification". Not a good thing.
No chicks hatch? Then they learn the lesson that things don't always go as plannned. Might be a better lesson than learning where chicks come from?
If she is concerned about the trauma of a half baked chick then she would do better to buy a book. Heaven knows there are plenty of them out there.
I have no doubt there are good teachers out there. My DD is one of the best. The others just think their good.
I have to stick my two sense in. When ever
some people here feel their particular profession or a group they feel close to is being questioned/attacked, they instantly call it hear say, question the poster's credibility, or even down right accuse the poster of lieing.
But I have to ask, the same people who question the OP's venting post (and I am not singling this thread out in particular, I am talking about in general because it's a pattern I have seen a few times) and saying it's only one side, how would said people feel if we accused them of hearsay and say it is only one side of the story the next time they vent or share a story?
I agree that this teacher is contributing to a child's sense of automatic gratification and isn't teaching them anything about the hatching process of eggs. She should have educated herself before adding the chick like that. The children are going to be misinformed now because of this teacher's impatience.
