Teacher fired over math problems

That is a very good point about the newspapers. We really don't know what the story behind the story is. But all we have to go on is what the mass media present, and form our public opinion from it. That's kinda scary when you stop to think about it.

It seems the proper response might have been to call the teacher into the Principal's office and tell him to tone it down a bit because some of the parents were getting upset.

However, newspapers never give you all the facts and they all seem to put their own slant on everything, so maybe the math was an excuse to get rid of a teacher who causes a lot of on-going problems.

The teacher was a minister and if that is true any public school in America would bound to have at least one group of parents wanting him fired just because he is a minister. I have seen these witch hunts happen to good teachers.

Having been the victim of a "witch hunt" myself (in job I had been in for almost 25 years), I can relate to that. My supervisor created a "record" of "infractions" I had made that were absurd to the point of being laughable, but if someone wants you out, any excuse will work.

You've got to love it. What we have here is a political and life philosophy which is beginning it eat its own....I love it when those who would have the everyday man spend his life walking on eggshells, ends up being subject to the same harsh rules.

Sanity may return, someday.

aint that the truth....my brother is an engineer and worked for briggs and stratton worked his way up from the line all the way to the factory office but he signed a contract when he started that said at 20 years he could retire with full benefits at 19 years 11 months they laid him off ...2 weeks later they told him they would not be recalling him...when he checked on his retirement he was told he hadnt worked long enough.

A friend worked for Leupold Scopes for almost 30 years and made it to middle management. He got fired about 6 months ago they are now moving all their manufacturing to China and he was high up in manufacturing division and lost all his retirement and bennies. He had to cash in his 401K to pay bills.

He was never given a reason for being fired other than "poor performance" no documented incidents or write ups.
