The '40's were a wonderful time. Folks didn't grab guns or knives to settle their differences. They used their fists and then bought each other a draft and forgave and forgot. Now a days is a lot scarier.
intolerance goes in cycles.. the value of human life has lately become cheap. Big difference IMHO....... coming from a guy who has both a brother and sister with an "alternative" lifestyle. No comparison to what we are talking about tho redux.
tolerance...such an overused term. why do we have to tolerate anything?? i hate that people think we should all accept anything that has a special interest group attached to it, or even if it doesn't.
personally, i think a healthy dislike of something is better than just blindly agreeing with popular opinion any day.
yeah you have a point, Boyd. It's just that people tend to romanticize the past, I think. It wasn't that perfect and the present isn't that awful. There is good and bad in both eras. I just think some people (not talking about you) like to sit around and bemoan the passing of the "good old days", meanwhile neglecting to live in the present. If they chose not to be part of the solution, they are part of the problem.

Whatever.. I have my beliefs and you have yours..
who cares? Who says that YOU are right?..who says that i am?
I'm ALL for the good old days anytime!
Things were simplier then..and boys didnt wear black finger nail polish...
And girls had to be the perfect domestic goddess to the man... NO THANKS! I am all for living as sustainably as possible but refuse to be treated as property of my husband.
And it does not matter WHAT era you live in, you do not write that a kid is a loser on their paper. Back in the 40's that teacher would be lucky the parents did not come and give them a good old fashioned butt kicking for a comment like that. With the blessing of the cops.
As stated before this is a 12 yr old child we are talking about; not emotionally or mentally developed enough to be on the receiving end of such a statement from someone in authority. It is unacceptable.
