And girls had to be the perfect domestic goddess to the man... NO THANKS! I am all for living as sustainably as possible but refuse to be treated as property of my husband.

And it does not matter WHAT era you live in, you do not write that a kid is a loser on their paper. Back in the 40's that teacher would be lucky the parents did not come and give them a good old fashioned butt kicking for a comment like that. With the blessing of the cops.

As stated before this is a 12 yr old child we are talking about; not emotionally or mentally developed enough to be on the receiving end of such a statement from someone in authority. It is unacceptable.

But times were just different..kids could be KIDS..now they grow up by the time they are 10 years old... its sad.
 
That teacher is missing the KEY ELEMENT of being a teacher: TEACH BY EXAMPLE. His name-calling is a form of taunting and bullying. He should be in detention.

My little rant is this: Civility is on the decline. Turn on the T.V. and you will find commentators insulting and talking over one another. This is not discourse. Not professionalism. "Mr. Loser Teacher" is one symptom of a bigger issue. As a country, we tolerate (maybe cheer on) alot of rude, uncivil and nasty behavior.
 
Red I have not had TV in almost 3 years so no Beaver here; read one of the old home ec texts, the very beginning will tell you how to behave for your husband and how your house should appear and how the kids should behave. Makes you want to barf.....

I agree kids can't have the fun they used to. They are expected to be mini adults by the time they are at the end of 6th grade. I try to incorporate as much silly and fun time into their schedules as I can so they can still be kids.......... (of course it does not help that DH and I both act goofy as well)!

I don't think there is a right or wrong here. I have my beliefs and you have yours. I find it interesting hearing other people's beliefs.

And I never waste one second of my time worrying about what color nail polish other people wear. Who cares?

let me rephrase that then- don't you want to be accepted? I think everyone does. Why should only some people be worthy of being accepted?

I think it is sad that there are people who think intolerance is preferable to just learning to live and let live.
