She laid again today; just went in and laid in her bucket in the main coop. =D
She seems to be laying closer together. Hope she keeps that up.

Update:

I have names for my Cochin babies:
Cockerel: "Robert" Downey, Jr. (b/c they're so downy when they're little)
Smallest Pullet: "Prima" Donna
Darkest Pullet: "Lavender"
Third Pullet: "Violet" (b/c DH thinks that's a prettier name than Lavender)

Two of the cockerels in my "big chicks" have a lump on their shoulder. I have the separated in the back pen.
One of my pullets was acting lethargic, so I quarentined her. I don't think she's sick; I think she was getting picked on after I took "Little Red" out of the big chicks.
I don't remember if I posted this, but: I took "Little Red" out of the "big chicks" b/c she has almost no tail and bum feathers. =(
I put her in with the Cochin chicks and they're all getting along famously.
I think the other chicks thought she was a runt or weakling.
Three times today, my safety netting has blown down from the juvenile pen.
I guess I'll have to secure the west side better, but let it down during the day so the "big chicks" can free range and hope for the best.
What do you all think?

Now several of my chicks have that "lump" I was talking about. They don't seem bothered by it, but if it's a deformity, I just won't breed them. I think it's their crop, b/c it feels like it's full of something like scratch grains. Weird.

I have the ones with lumps separated, but so many of them are developing it that I don't see the point.

I plan on putting the lump chicks in with the other juveniles tonight. Then, I'll let them all free range with the main flock beginning tomorrow morning. I think part of the problem I have, in general, is that there are 13 chicks in the pen. I had 11 in there last year (my original flock), and they were already allowed to free range (b/c they were able to fly out and I didn't have larger chickens to worry about).

I have two that are quarentined. One is the pullet who was looking lethargic. The other is Little Red; she has bloody poo, so I'm a little worried about her.

Snoodle has laid four eggs. The last one looks a lot more normal. The first three were kind of pointy and all. I'll probably collect some, but I don't know when or how many.
If anyone has any advice on this, I'd appreciate it. =)

I took one of the chicks to my friend and she said that the "lump" is just their crops, but she hasn't seen it off to the side like that. It doesn't seem to be a big deal.

I'm treating the chicks for cocci, so I'm not going to start free ranging them until they're finished with that. The wet winter has been good for the parasites, since it doesn't get cold enough here to really kill them, even on the surface.

I still have Little Red separated from the big chicks. I have her in with the Cochin chicks, b/c she was in with them already; whatever she has/had, they have already been exposed to and I'm treating them for cocci too, just in case.

Snoodle has been laying right along, every other day. =D She laid fairly early in the morning yesterday, so she might lay late in the evening today; we'll see. I collected all except her last egg, which she subsequently buried in her bucket. lol

The chicks all seem to be doing better.

The big chicks are getting up on top of the "roof" of the juvenile pen.

The Cochin chicks are beginning to feather out. I vent sexed them with new information; it looks like I have four pullets. If so, Robert Downey, Jr. is going to need a new name.

Snoodle laid another egg. (I'm sure you all don't want to know every single time she lays. lol) Point being: Today, I collected the egg she laid Sunday (she laid both Sat and Sun, which I predicted accurately.)

and I'm going to collect the egg she laid today, when she lays again (probably Wed). That will give me 7 eggs to set. I'll set them overlapping their first three days of incubation with lockdown of the hatch I've already got going, which will be Thursday.

Marty is looking more rooster-like.

He's a pretty rooster!!! I like his rose comb; it looks like a dabenare little hat.

Yesterday was a busy day!

I let the "big chicks" out to free range. They really enjoyed it!!! And they're going around like a big flock of mini chickens today. =)
I also put Little Red back in with the big chicks the night before. She seems to be doing well now. I hope her bare tail is covered in feathers soon!!!

I locked down four eggs (started with 12 eggs 18 days ago); I expect them to hatch Sunday. I set in the evening last time and Little Red hatched out in the middle of the night; I set late in the morning this time; I hope these eggs hatch in the afternoon, so the kids can watch!!!

I set half a dozen of Snoodle's eggs yesterday morning. I hope I get some of Snoodle's offspring!!! That would be great!!!

I interrupted the big chicks afternoon siesta.

This is several of them. I'm sorry the picture isn't that good. I was on the porch (hence the porch rail that is the right third of the picture). Anyway, the dark brown one is the one that hatched with mahogany fluff from a WL egg, and turned chipmunk color, now she's a beautiful mahogany with black markings. I'll try to get a better picture of her.
