Dear all,

I hope you guys are able to educate me on the following matter.
I have a beautiful white call duck which I wish to breed with.
She has only one oddity. One of here eyes is teardrop shaped. In Dutch we call it a “druppeloog”.

it means the Iris is deformed in the shape of a raindrop/teardrop...

I assume this is because of inbreed or is it a form of normal variation.

How does it go genetically? Does anyone know how it passed from the adult to the offspring? Recessive or dominant?

I hope you understand my question. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!

I know nothing about about the iris disorder. If it doesn’t effect her behavior I wouldn’t worry about it cause even if it passes on genetically the ducklings will basically be normal ducks . Also 😍THAT DUCK IS SOOO CUTE 😍

No it doesn't effect her behavior. Yes I have 6 very cute ducks!
Only I might take her offspring to a show one day. And on the other hand, I'm super curious to find out what causes this (probably the very few bloodlines of the dutch white calls). And how it passed on... I'm going to dive into this matter.

I don’t know anything about it. but if you are worried about it being hereditary then I would advise not to breed her, if it is recessive then it will be hard to get ride of later down the line, it is best to breed only from healthy normal animals.
I don’t breed duck so anyone who knows more please correct me

That's exactly what I'm worrying about. Only nobody seems to be able to tell me just yet. I asked the call duck breeder group in my country too. No answer until this day...
But we will continue our search. Maybe a specialised breeder will know
