Tech Nerd Ramblings

I did get around to testing the GTX 770 as well. It seems to be dead. I plugged it in and everything, and the PC won't even detect it. Tried a different motherboard and it also didn't work.

The motherboard that the person gave me with it was also behaving really weird. It wouldn't turn on unless I reset the BIOS every time I unplugged it, as it turns out the CMOS just died. Swapping that out made it work.

I also had a spare NVMe from my laptop (256GB, but still good enough for testing) and a BIOS update got that working. I think with a better cooler that PC will be alright for what I'm going to do with it, and the zip-tied-fan RX570 will do for the time being.

That's what I was looking at getting for mine. Supposedly it's still compatible with the 1150 socket, but I don't know if it'll come with the mount plate for it.
it will come with standoffs for 1150. You should just use the existing backplate and change the standoffs?

I just got a working LSI card for my two 14TB hard drives, so I'm trying to get this NAS all set up with all of my files and stuff. It's going to be fun.

I also did get that new cooler for my tower. 30-40C idle and about 70-80C under full load.

I have no idea how on earth to get these cables hidden nicely. This case is kinda bad for cable management. Good thing the side panel hides most of it.
