You could build birdhouses, dog houses, rabbit and chicken houses (small ones for 3-4 chickens) from "found" wood and materials and sell them. I also recommend rock and mineral collecting - google "rock and mineral club" plus your state's name and see what comes up. You can collect on your own, go on digs and go to shows and buy really great stuff. Then there's the whole metaphysical side to it -- either way, fascinating. Also astronomy, but you'll need a telescope.

Why would you wait to learn how to knit !?! lol it is incredibly addicting and fun! I will be teaching my boyfriend and his friend over the next couple weeks since they want to start making their own hats and face warmers for hunting. Men have a very long history in knitting and there are plenty of websites for male knitters also.

Other than that my boyfriend bought a dremel and made chess pieces it was a small enough project that was easy to work on indoors for the fine tuning. You can also work on making kitchen utensils out of wood (spatula, ladles and what-not) there are many useful things you could create.

My sis has a friend that is doing that! He burns custom designs on wood cuttign boards. very neat!

What about quilting? We already have one guy on out quilting thread. It's a very common hobby for people in the mountains. Some men are brilliant quilters.

Go to the hobby store and ask about the small rubberband powered airplane kits. You can get everything you need for about $20.00

DO NOT go near the R/C cars, boats, planes etc... unless you have 500 to $900.00 burning a hole in your checkbook.


Secondly Model Rocket. Those are cheep too.


Cooking is a great thing to learn...I'm a personal chef. You can look at cooking as a big chemestry kit where you get to eat the experements.

If you mix the ingredients right you get a chockolate cake, screw it up and you get a brick.

My boys enjoy wood carving and making walking sticks that they sell at the Boy Scout camps for $20 each. They carve on them, sand them, and finish them with stain and varnish. They come out quite nice and is quite cheap to do.
