Tell me about Cochins and laying...

I had 3 standard cochins, and they laid nearly every day. They were great chickens. My bantam cochins did not lay as reliably. When laying, they laid often, but they did not lay year round like the standards did. The bantams also stayed broody more than they laid!

Giant or Standard are both the same ((Large Fowl))

My hatchery chickens are smaller then when I have hatch my own from a dealer! (@ least my Cochins & BOs have worked out that way I don't have any to compare other chickens I have hatched to)

We have banty barred cochins 1 hen and a roo. She started laying s few weeks ago and now has gone broody. She is setting on 18 eggs, quite a few of them are her eggs but there are also some blue banty eggs and some SDW and a few Fawn duckwing eggs under her also, this is my first try at this I hope it works. They should hatch in 12 to 13 days according to my count.

I got some standard Cochins back in Jan. and when they started laying it was one every day. They gave small eggs though, imo. Now they are all broody and I can't wait till they start laying again. But I am letting them hatch the eggs out plus some I added.
They are good birds, very friendly and my 4 roos have not been too temperamental.
The only thing I dislike is the mess their feathers become walking in the wet grass and dirt. My do free range.

I believe the egg laying also depends on what you feed.
