Wow, that's really good. I wish I'd thought of that.

I opted to just tell her the truth, that we're here to protect our birds and our family and we just can't take a chance on them coming back. We live on a farm so I felt in this case she needs to learn the hard facts of life.

While I love that she's compassionate and loves animals, sometimes she worries me. Like the conversation she had in the woods with a snake. "I told him my name is Bonnie and I started to give him a name but then I thought he probably already had a name so I didn't. He just laid there and his tail was shaking because he was cold. When I started to leave it scared him and he jumped at me. But he wouldn't hurt me because we're friends." I said
