Hi there! I've found that Andalusian roosters are really sweet and kind to their hens & to me. In the past I've had two of them (both blue)& both charming gentlemen; they always took care of their girls and were so patient with their little chicks. At the time I was very surprised because before I had only had White Rocks. I don't have them anymore as a fox got one & the other died of a brain problem but I hope to get another soon. I do have 2 Andalusian x White Rock roos but they have inherited their mother's evil disposition (she hated me & used to scream at me across the garden)!
they are very nice. one of the seramas only pecks me when ever i try to pick him up.
the silkie roo thinks hes a big shot and chases all the other roos off of "his" hens. there not really his hens. hes the beta roo. the serama/cochin in the alpha roo but they are all nice to me and only mildly aggressive to the eachother...
I had a semi-sweet RIR. It's a long story, but in my signature line is the link. He was a pretty good rooster, for sure. I used to hate and be afraid of roosters. But he changed my mind.
My rooster experiences:
Worst: 5 inch tall sebright bantam- deadly- would aerial bomb you, funny until my mom refused to feed for us when we travelled unless he got the ax. Still remember him creeping up behind you and when you turned around he actually acted like he was eating, not sneaking up on you.
Golden laced polish- beautiful but also axed
Best:
Silver Spangled Hamburg- don't you love those buggy dark brown eyes! But boy could he escape any pen, a fox got him.
Cochins- all good
White Face Black Spanish- all good
Hence one of my current rooster: Blue
My Black Langshan is really nice but dumb as a stump, will take dumb over mean anyday
The Great Rocky, often seen wearing a diaper watching tv with me, not a mean bone in his body
