You gonna help pay the postage for the package to Ranchy? It's getting bigger all the time and heavy.

Silkie haters must be taken out, by any means possible.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree with the others. Thats a boy.

You might want to be very careful about the rooster pen you mentioned that you were going to build. OEG roos are known to be impossible to keep together (well if you want them alive anyway). If this little guy is already fighting before he even hits maturity, you will want to house him seperate from other roos.

It's an unfortunate reality that OEGs were developed for lethal fighting, and it's a hard set of genes to get rid of, even in mixes.

somehow Ranchy, I think you want someone to be in a roo contest with you. And I do believe you have picked me.

Some how, all my pullets are suddenly, over night turning into roos.

Now, the price for having this little roo fest, I think you should hatch me some eggs.

Not any eggs, silkie and silkie ducks. Plus maybe a few eggs from Impy. Then care for these little dinosaurs for a few weeks until I am able to arrange transportation for them. During which time, I will have them sexed and you will keep all males. Loves Ranchy

I'm already planning separate pens for some of the roos. Easter being one. So far it is just posturing. And always with the one that looks just like it. I do know what OEG's are capable of. My step uncle used to fight them and I used to steal them and hide them from him until he finally got arrested. By then I had 75 roos in individual pens. Should have been at my house in the mornings.

Cute chick, er, roo. From the posts title, I thought there'd be pics. of a hen fighting with a roo. That's only because I caught one of my older hens (3-yr.-old BO) fighting with one of my silkie roos! She was actually flying up and kicking him with he feet----just like a roo. I imagine she didn't appreciate the little twerps advances.

My cochin pullet is the same way. She will not let the male get away with anything. I'm starting to think I will never have cochin babies when they are older.

I have hens that will kick a younger roos butt and do a very good job of it.

I had to break up a fight the other day between Snowy (a 3 y.o. brahma hen) and TJ (son of Thor, a 5 m.o. brahma roo). Snowy was winning, but I didn't want to take any chances.

Kitt, looked at the pic again and I will ask the same question Ranchy did...how old?

I'm a bit iffy on this one. All of my turken hens have huge legs, have from the start. I'm not going to base a guess on legs alone.

Are there any saddle feathers showing at all? What about the hackle feathers? It's difficult to tell from the pic. Are the hackle feathers pointed or rounded at the tips?
