with my roosters i will pet them occasionaly but also want them to respect me, so dont bsby thrm. of course my bling one and crossbeak on get extra attention!

My Pitiful gets most of the attention when I'm outside. He gets really mad when I walk away and don't pick him up! And BeeBee, being the house chicken, it's pretty safe to assume he gets A LOT of attention LOL

I love roosters! I have five currently. Two with my laying flock, one in my silkie breeding pen, a cochin I have yet to find ladies for and a silkie that's purely a pet.

Naturally they're necessary if you want to breed but the two in my laying flock I keep just because I like them and they get along. Roosters are beautiful and in my opinion have the best personalities. It's a shame that most of them fight otherwise I would have more.

If you do a pen with nothing but roosters they won't fight. It's only in the presence of hens that their hormones kick in and they begin to become aggressive towards each other.

Didn't plan on having a rooster but then my neighbors asked me to get one because they love the morning crowing. So glad I did. Our roo is so great with the hens. Never eats the treats always gives to his ladies. The interaction and communication is amazing to watch. He never gets aggressive with me or my husband or with strangers when we are around. But if anyone comes into the yard when we are away he can be nasty. Thinking I need to put up a. BEWARE ATTACK ROOSTER ON PREMISES sign!

I give my roosters love. I go straight to them and pick them up. then I hold their wings against my body and pet their face and they close their eyes enjoying it. They know they cannot beat me up or get aggressive because I win when I go grab them. But if you show fear then that is when they can get mean. Also if you think it is cute to play fight them when they are young they are taught to attack that way. I never play fight with my roosters or let them attack me.
