I have 3 hens that just started laying and right before they started laying my little bantam rooster that isn't even a year old started to attack me... I just took him out to my aunts farm because I couldn't even get close to my chickens without him attacking me. Any suggestions on a good breed for roosters? Id like to have at least one for breeding and protection purposes.

I just got rid of mine that looked exactly like that! He was more the color of a monarch butterfly but I'm certain they are the same breed very pretty!

some people say don't hold them because it makes them not afraid of you. I hold them as much as possible and if they head towards me dancing I grab them and pick them up. if you act scared they will chase you.

I have 7 Roos and not 1 has ever come at me and I hold mine from time to time. I also hand feed them about every other day and they take food from me very gently. I love my boys.

Out of all the wonderful benefits of having a roo I just love the look of them I guess maybe its a guy thing but I love watching a rooster strut and crow around his women but I'm looking forward to breeding different breeds and seeing what I can come out with.
