Tell your 'what the heck was that thing?' scary story

Well here's one..

In Va there is a city called Petersburg, it has strong historical meaning being also known as ' The Siege of Petersburg'. We fooliahly didnt know the history of that city and to that day beware the creek that is there...

We bought a 1920s suco house, two stories 'nice' neighborhood due to that fact they didn't dump the criminals on the street, but behind it was a creek... I never learned the name. Everyone knew drug dealing went on down there, heck a cop one day walked down out backyard to it... But first about the house. The owner mother owned it and died... and didn't fully cross over. We fojnd a few boxes of stuff that stayed there, things that may seem normal like old pictures and stuff but something was not right, not one bit. In the 'shed' that was under the house we found Natice American pottery in boxes, most broken but still cool... then there the civil war articles. We kept a couple but most was left at the house... we were living on a battle ground.

at first everything was fine, but as we remodeled the house creepy stuff happen, things move to place we knew we didn't put them down at... dogs barking for no reasons, noises and such... but that backyard, thats were the fear began. the treeline was thick, but things were there, that not human either. once I saw a black thing fly through a tree. even then the mother that stayed was the 'youngest' guest in that house... you would here stomping up the stair ect. every since that house I have a fear of stairs... I don't know what happen at that house and stair but something did happen, and other things my brain wont let me fully remember. I will state this now, I have a strong sense of things that... are not of this world, and it did not help matters.

I pray that those who look into buying old houses do research on itz history. .. please,

My house is about 100 years old, and this makes me nervous. Holy cow.

not all houses are like this... thank God. But heres another one.

One summer, and never ever again, we stayed at my great aunt and uncle's house.... It is old I will admit how old I dont known.. but it has guests, and lots of them. you would walk into the house and feel them... they weren't malicious, more playful. slept in my grandma's room that she was born in.... thats when they decideď the new comers must be played with.

lights flicking on and off, the beds being bounced on while you were sleeping, noises, you name it minus 'seeing' them we got it.... pets say we didn't stay another night and don't plan to. I want my sleep to be normal... not visited.

This happened several years ago in the "Gold Country" in the Sierra Nevada area. Thought it would be fun to stay in a haunted hotel. Nothing odd happened that day or night - other than strange creakings, etc. Normal 100+ yr old hotel sounds. Next morning, I went across the hall to shower and was in a great mood. While showering I started to feel very anxious, scared, terrified and in danger. I tried to shake the feeling off, but it just became more enveloping. I just knew that 'he' was going to shoot me and my blood would soak into the floor boards. I got out of that bathroom (soap still in hair) as fast as I could! As soon as I closed the door - the feeling was gone. I am not one to fright easy. I have seen a few oddities that I could not explain, but had never felt such profound terror before or since.

I have had two very odd experiences.

The first one happened at Depoe Bay, Oregon. I was watching a guy go back and forth on the deck of a fishing boat named Cougar, between the house and the motor box. What made me notice was that people walked by on the pier without giving him a hello, and both he and the boat seemed a little washed out, as if there was a light fog between the boat and where I stood on the highway bridge over the channel. The boat left the dock and headed for the narrow opening of the harbor, sailed towards us, and went out of view. I moved across the road and couldn't see it in the channel, nor could I find it in the harbor. I was puzzled because I had pointed it out to my husband and he didn't seem to have seen it at all.

Later, when I got home, I received a new book I had ordered online. In it was a description of the sinking of the Cougar, a fishing boat out of Depoe Bay. It had a leak and the captain had gone back and forth to look in the motor box to try and find the cause of the leak.

The other one was driving into a Gold Rush town in California in the dark early in the current financial depression. We were proceeding down the highway my husband and I both saw what appeared to be a man hanging in a tree. We thought we had just discovered a suicide and went back to look and saw nothing and no one in the tree. I think the town was called Sonora.

The story gets stranger. Some time later we were on the same route at night with a friend and we all three saw it. She was alarmed and wanted us to go back. She thought we were crazy when we told her we had seen it before, and if we went back, we wouldn't find anyone hanging because we hadn't the first time we saw what appeared to be a hanged man in the tree.

When I was in college, I took a night class that had me on a very lightly traveled country road in the late evening. I was about 12 miles from home when suddenly...'BOOM!'..there was a huge explosive 'flash' right is front of my windshield! Scared the begeebers out of me! It was the middle of nowhere and there was no one there; no cars, no houses anywhere near. It was like a huge firecracker sparkler thing. When I got home and inspected the car, tere was no sign of fire or carbon or anything. I still have no idea what it was. It was south Texas in the fall of 1977. Anybody else have anything like that?
Funny , 1978 I was in a parking at a grocery store. I started to get in and I saw a girl I knew . I was half in the car standing behind the door with it open preparing to sit when I lifted my hand from the top of the door to wave . I waved and put my foot on the floor board grabbed the wheel and started to sit when a brilliant bright blow flash engulfed me, now when I say engulf ,consumed or what ever I mean it was like I was paralyzed trapped and part of the flash. To Me this flash lit up the sky and it was all I could see or feel for that matter. When it ended ,and that was what seemed an eternity , I did not know what to expect as the exact amount of time to me was immeasurable. I stood up out of the car "as I had not shut the door"! I was bewildered and I looked around to see the same girl I had waved to staring at me and the car. I immediately stammered something to the effect of did you see that light ? She seemed equally confused and was staring at me as bewildered as I was . She replied to me that she had and wondered aloud what it was . I replied to that question in kind asking where it had come from. Remember I thought it had lighted the sky" When she told me that it had come from inside my car I think that that was the most perplexing revelation of the whole episode . We both just shook our heads and left the seen in different directions never ever seeing one another since , I ponder this event often and wonder what. so it was funny to me to see another somewhat similar occurrence in someone else's life at a similar chronology.

Here's a SCARY story for you all.

Me and my cousin were in her ally, ridding our bikes. We stopped because we saw this weird looking thing at the end of the ally. It had no legs/feet, it had on a long black trench coat and a black hood. We watched it to see what it was. After about a minute or so it just disappeared. It was so scary!!!

Okay, so this happened to me when I was about 4- 5 years old, and I remember it clear as day which is why I am certain it was real. At the foot of my parents bed was this huge chest that they kept all of my school papers and projects in, and directly across from that chest was the closet. Anyway, one night I was sleeping in my parents bed and for whatever reason I woke up in the middle of the night. Both of my parents were asleep on either side of me. I sat up in bed, and looked down near that chest. We had a bright nightlight in the corner of the room so the room was pretty well lit. Down at the end of the chest was a man sitting cross legged and staring up at me. His entire body was burned badly and his eyes were glazed over. He wore a black suit that was covered with holes, probably from a fire. I remember the smell of smoke in that room like it happened only a few hours ago. As I often did when I was scared at night, I pulled the sheets over my head and tried to go back to bed, though I didn't sleep any more that night. In the morning he was gone, but the entire house smelled like smoke. My parents smelled the smoke too, and I remember my stepdad rushing us all out of the house and into the street. The house was not on fire. We moved from that house years ago, but my parents still have the chest. I have NEVER gone near that thing in my life since then. I'm still terrified of it. My sisters and parents sleep upstairs where we live now and I sleep downstairs just to be as far away from that chest possible. I also have my room set up so that it isn't possible for anything to be at the foot of my bed. My parents say that it was a dream, but whatever happened that night was real. So that's my terrifiying story. The only one I have actually, but I don't need any more than that in my life.
