I have Buff Orpington, and Silkies in together, only one Silkie hatched, but it was still in the bator..not the hatcher, so I put it in the hatcher..and now I am not sure if I marked the right one, looks just like the Orpingtons!
Is there a way to tell them apart at this age? The Silkies are mine, and the Orpingtons i'm giving away, so I want to be sure I keep all of my Silkies.

Won't the silkies have black skin and 5 toes, while the Orpingtons have 3 toes and not black skin?

Yep, you will be able to tell the difference

A buff silkie might not have the slate colored skin. It could be more like, orange! lol Still should have 5 toes and feathered feet.

Edited to ask for a pic!

I'd take a pic, but not sure which one it is! lol. None have 5 toes or feathered feet, so it has to be an Orpington that I somehow mixed up, not sure how!
We just got our first Silkie chick hatch, so I know the difference now, so I don't think this one is a Silkie but an Orpington.
Weird, I went back to look at the egg, it's not marked, but it looks just like a Silkie egg!

Ya'll are just trying to get pics out of me

JK. I will take pics, but it'll take me awhile to upload, not liking Windows 7...takes forever to upload pictures!
We've got 15 chicks, 2 are Silkies. Need help determining the colors of my silkies anyway. We've still got 26 eggs in the hatcher, and who knows how many still in the incubator. So lots of pics to come!

I think this one is an Orpington, no other way, just strange how it got there!
