AAARRRRRGHHHHH I have 100 assorted brown egg layers from McMurray in my brooder in the garage. I have looked at and looked at all the sites I could find showing chickens and chicks. But alas! I just get more confused. I guess I am just destined to remain breed illiterate.
I see barred chickens...but then there are many breeds that are barred, Buff chickens, but again, many breeds feature the buff. etc, etc, etc.
It's a black copper maran...WRONG! That one is a Black sex-link. oops
Ok, that one is an Ameraucana...BUZZZ!...wrong again. That one is a EE. My Bad..why anybody can SEE that!
Ok, I KNOW this one, that's a Rhode Island Red!....SMACK! Silly girl, that's a Red Sex Link!
About the only breeds I can accurately identify are the NN, the Silkies, and the Wyandottes (But what's this? they come in buff too? Sheeshes!).
HEY! I got it.... That one is a Black Chicken. There I did it. I identified a bird.
I suppose I should just be content to enjoy my nice brown eggs, Watch the color guard parade around my chicken run, and smile.
A chicken by any other name tastes the same.
