I live in South Carolina, and have my quail outside. I know they need 12 to 14hrs of sun light before they start laying. But is there a temerature requirement as well?

Light at least 14 hours is more important for just laying. Temperature has some effect (lower egg production and fertility when its below 50 degrees). Do you have Coturnix or Bobwhite?

I have Coturnix, I got 8 back in November and can't wait til they start laying. I have 6 female and 2 males. We have a little over 12hrs of light from true sun rise and set and a few more hrs of twilight and pre dawn. But we r still having some cold weather.

you can put a light on them so they will get 14 hours of light. I live in mo and I have been getting eggs for a month one I put the light on them and gave them good 28 percent protein . I use game bird starter
