temp and incubating

Y'all are attempting the impossible.

Go buy, or build, a decent incubator, or expect disaster after disaster, with the odd freak success.

If ya can't afford $50, then borrow an incubator, or save up for one. MissPrissy's can be built for peanuts.

This isn't a game people.

Sure .... but just because you can do something, occasionally, inefficiently and poorly, doesn't mean it should be done.

These Forums should be about giving Best Advice. In this case that means telling someone they need an incubator, not a fish tank.

If that's how you feel, say it. No reason to say something is impossible when you know it is.

Please feel free to pick on me for a word I chose.

I will remind you that the *next to impossible* is being attempted here, all for the sake of doing it right.

These Forums need to give good advice, not pander to people who can't or won't do things properly. If we tell someone it's ok to do this, then others may be tempted to try, and that is a backwards step.

By all means do as you wish with your eggs, but don't expect to be told it's ok.

I will remind you that the Egyptians used to regulate the temperature of their incubators by holding an egg to their eye. Should we, on this basis, because it clearly *can be done*, advise everyone to throw away their thermometers?

Thought not.

wow i apologize for causing a controversy here, I had thought I was just asking a simple question and I sense angry words being typed which is not what i was hoping for. I am doing the best with what i have and I realize it isnt much to some. I am sorry to say i dont have the extra "peanuts' to build miss prissys right now and with eggs on the way no time to save up either so I have to work with what i have.

sorry again

Don't fret about it.

It would be remiss not to tell you that the way you are going is inefficient, but folk here, including me, will still help where we can.

Eggs need constant temp and humidity up to day 18. If you can achieve this you will likely succeed. It's not easy, and it's going to be labour intensive. Lack of consistency will reduce hatch rate, it's hard to tell you how much.

Get used to people being *snippy* with each other. Take what you need, and leave the rest
