in a circulating air incubator , if you had to choose between 99.1 or 100.1 which would you keep it at.

I was thinking the same, slightly warm rather thancooler. humidity running between high 20s and low 40s adding a little water daily, goes to teens quickly if no water added

Try adding a wet spong if you have room. Should keep it more even and all you have to do is re wet the sponge. I find less fluctuations and it holds mine right about 30% when my bator is about 16% when dry.

I would choose 100. In fact, I prefer to run my home made bator with fan at 100

I dont really have room for a sponge, its full in there . when it gets down to about 25 , usually overnight, I add some water (in the morning), it immediately goes up to 40 to 45, by the time I get home in e vening itwill be 32-35 . is the fluctuation a big problem?

Not really, as long as your eggs are loosing enough moisture.

im only on day 3 , should I be checking them already

No. Generally days 7/14/18 is sufficient unless you have to adjust your range. Until at least a week there's not much of an air cell to check.
