Temperature Spike

I got home last night and saw the thermometer ontop of the eggs read 103.8. I about *****. I turned down the temperature adjuster and filled the wells a little, even though they weren't down too far and the temp went back down to 100 so I thought everything was fine. Im not sure how long the temp had spiked because it had been reading 100 until yesterday. Checked on it before I went to bed and everything was still ok until this morning and it was back up to 103.8 again. The digital thermometer on the floor read 97. So I tweeked with the temp again and before I went to work, was down around 100 again. Got home..........103.....tweeked........now its about 98. Adjusted just a little to get it closer to 99.......did I kill the babies? A girl at work who also has hatched some said its probably because they are generating thier own heat the closer they get to hatching. I did not have this happen last hatch, but this time I have twice as many eggs than last time. Are they going to be ok? I hope so. Hatch date is this weekend.

I have had mine at 103 for 12 hours an they were ok.


Is this a incubator with a fan or without?

I had same trouble this morning....stupid LG. Was 101 when I went to bed, 103 when I got up in morn. Then it was 98 later in day.
Im about to throw the stupid thing out the window.
My Hovabator with fan keeps at 99, occassionally and very briefly it goes to 100, then right back down to 99.
So far, Ive had 0 hatch out of 2 sets that were incubated in LG>
Hoping to get a few to hatch out of the last 3 sets...they spent more time in the hovabator. I got it used and got it because I needed another for staggered hatching and lockdowns. Thus far I have tried 2 lockdowns in the LG. Next set goes on lockdown Sat....Im keepin them in hovabator.

If it's still air, I think it's pretty normal to read 103 on top and 97 on the bottom. I know mine did hit 103 a few times, although I aimed for 101 on top.
The inside of the eggs I THINK will be about an average temp between the two, but I'm gonna build me a water wiggler so I can be sure.

Anyways, I have 9 pips so it must be working out OK, just cross your fingers for me that they finish hatching!

Its a still air LG. The temps are back to 100 on the one I have sitting in the egg carton the other is at 99 like it usually reads. I just panicked. I will see who hatches this weekend, but Ive decided since I get paid today Im ordering a hovabator. I'll just use the LG for a brooder. This is way too stressful!!

yeah my lg did the same exact thing my hatch date was last friday and i got nothing! i opened all the eggs yesterday and kid you not they looked preety close to a omlette! all hard yoke only one egg developed to about the 2nd week.

I did have 1 hatch, btw.

Im thinking about the hovabator genisis 1588. You should check ebay. They have a few different models of hovabators.
