I am getting ready to finish my coop and my neighbor ordered the chicks last week. My question is how long should i keep them in a run until they figure out to come home at night and to stay around. Any tips for how to keep the birds to come back to the coop. How big should the run be for the short time they are in it.

The chicks should be feathered out and probably at least 8-12 weeks before they can free-range on their own.

With new adult chickens coming to my place, they must be locked in for 3 weeks to know where home is, before I let them free-range.
