“You’ll be fine, just calm down!” Jenna yelled from a few feet away.

“I can’t drink, Jenna! The baby!” I reminded her.

“And he’ll be fine too. Relax for once, will you?!” She shouted.

She was right. I hadn’t calmed down since the accident. Maybe this was best, and I should relax.

I cleared through the crowd of people, and finally found Jenna. “Jenna, you’re right…” I sighed. “I should just calm down, I guess.”

“Perfect! Do you want another?” She asked.

“Sure.” I said, willing to try.

Jenna ran off to get another. I looked around in the crowd. Many of the teenagers were smoking, and drinking. I sighed, and sat on a chair in the corner. I couldn’t believe I was actually throwing this party.

Jenna soon returned with a light brown drink in one hand. “Here.” She said, handing it to me.

I gulped down the drink within a few seconds. “Thanks, Jenna.” I said, leaning back in my seat.

“Totally!” She smiled, walking back into the party.

I finally felt happy. I felt stress free, like nothing could ever go wrong. I smiled, and walked into the crowd. Many people stared at me as I stumbled across our den. I met up with Jenna at the backdoor.

“You okay?” She asked, noticing my happiness.

“Perfectly fine…” I mumbled. I went to reach for another drink, and suddenly fainted.

I woke up to the baby crying. I opened my eyes, and looked at the ceiling. I sat there for almost five minutes before figuring out what had happened.

“You okay?” I called out to the baby, standing up. I looked at the room- Messy, and completely cluttered. The baby continued crying. I walked into the hallway, and used the key to unlock his door. He flailed his arms up in the air, as if wanting to be held.

“It’s all fine.” I reassured him, picking him up. He stopped crying immediately, and started drooling on my shirt. I smiled, and pulled my phone out of my pocket once it started vibrating.

“Cally, U R comin over 2day!” The text read.

I sighed, “Jenna…” I said, putting my phone back. “Well, looks like I’m going to Jenna’s today.” I told the baby. He giggled. I took him out to the den, and set him in a playpen while I cleaned. After a while of scrubbing the vomit stains off the couch, the doorbell rang. I smiled at the baby, and walked over to answer it...

Email this to a publisher! Perhaps Tate? They're Christian family-run pros.

I love it!

“Hey, Josh!” I said, opening the door. “You can sit on the couch until I finish cleaning…” I said, letting him in.

Josh looked around. “Uhh, okay.” He said, setting his backpack down on the couch.

“Sorry, Jenna came over last night. We can study once I’m done, though!” I smiled, picking up trash.

Josh nodded, and sat down. “So, did you have a party?” He asked, noticing the mess.

“Yeah, I guess it could be considered a party.” I explained.

“I see. Do you need help cleaning?” He asked, helping pick up trash.

“Sure.” I said, grabbing a new trash back, and filling it up.

“How’ve you been?” He asked, looking up at me.

“Fine, I guess. Jenna’s currently teaching me to relax!” I joked, stuffing bottles into the trash bag.

Josh laughed. “Nice!”

“I suppose. I’m not sure if I’m actually ready to relax… Anyway, how have you been?” I asked, stopping my complaining.

“I’ve been thinking…” He sighed, watching me. “Do you want to go out sometime?” He asked sweetly.

I felt lustful for the first time. “Yeah, sure!” I smiled, tying the trash bag shut.
