Tempurpedic VS Sleep Number ...........

Quote:
This is the exact problem I have, broken collar bone (3 places) on my right side and I sleep on my right side. On the mattress at in-laws I had no issues at all.

I'm sure both have their pluses and minuses, and everybody is different. A mattress pad on top of the temperpedic detracts from its functionality. It is difficult to turn in. It is hot if you are hot natured. I am cold natured so I love that part. It is the only bed I have ever had that I can sleep on my back. For two thousand dollars I got the basic model, didn't think I needed to top padded softer one. I usually sleep on my side. My ribs hurt for months where the pressure landed on them because my back side sank in. And your shoulder would sink in, but that left your arm twisted up in front of you because it couldn't sink in too. So when I sleep on my back I love it, when I sleep on my side I don't.

PS If you want a send it back guarantee, you have to buy it from the right place. I got mine from a furniture store, and believe me, I would have sent it back if they would have taken it. It would be well worth the trouble to make sure you have a return possible.

Sleep Number all the way.
But if my outlaws were gonna give me a tempurpedic I would give it a whirl for a while and see how it worked out.
oops! I meant In Laws.

Got a nice new sleep number about 6 years ago, HATED IT! We never got our "number" right, I tossed and turned on that thing for 2 years b/f I got rid of it. I will never get one again.

Maybe it is ok for someone that isn't a light sleeper, but we never could get comfortable.

ETA: My good friends have the tempurpedic and they complain how hot it gets sleeping on the mattress....it doesn't breath well or something like that.

I would try the T if it was for free.Around here it is 2k. My mom swore by her water bed.Loved the coolness in the summer, and heat option in the winter.I never liked water beds.I do like the foam pillow.I would get it and give it a try.

Tempurpedic Tempurpedic Tempurpedic Tempurpedic!!!!! I sleep through the night. We would not even think of another mattress!

We have a sleep number. So do my parents (they even had 1 in their RV), my sister, mom's friends. I like it because I sleep with the bed at 100, DH at 40. However we did have to return it as did all the forementioned because they have been known to have mold problems. Not on the outside, but the inside. (Everyone of us had this problem) The company changed the way they made them, but they now say you need to open them up to let them air out. If we had not gotten a new one sent to us, I wouldn't have gotten another.

I had been wanting a sleep number for years, my sister and her husband have one. I have fibromyalgia and every time I would spend the night with my sister, I would get the best sleep ever; completely sound, not waking up in the middle of the night. This is HUGE for fibro sufferers. The catch is, get the top of the line, which can run 5-6K. I hadn't been able to talk my husband into one, but my parents recently sold their house to live in a motorhome and gave me theirs. I absolutely could not live without it!!

Several of my friends (mostly doctors ironically) all have sleep numbers. I have 2 other friends that both had tempurpedic beds for about 10 years then got rid of them. They said the material eventually breaks down. They both have switched to sleep numbers. I know of at least 10 people that have sleep numbers and have never heard of a mold issue.

My husband, who could sleep on a rock, finally admitted that he really likes our sleep number, mostly because he never feels me move/turn over, and he likes his with a higher number than I do.

with that being said, free is free. I would have eventually saved up to buy my sleep number, but since it was given to me, that makes it all the better!! If you are being offered a free temperpedic, give it a try, and if you don't like it or the material breaks down, then go buy your sleep number!!

I think since the T bed is free from the in-laws we will try it and see how it goes.
