Ten month old JG pullet with wry neck

You can try to give it whole. I don’t know how big they are. If too big, mix into a bit of egg. Give 400 IU of E once daily and 1/4 tab of B complex once daily.
Thanks, I've been cutting the tips of the tabs and giving just the liquid. Mixed it with applesauce today, and got 3 sunflower seeds down. Is there a limit as to how many seeds I should give her?

So she is loving applesauce, I have had to put sunflower seeds and the B1 tab directly into her mouth however. She isn't gulping water down but she is mowing down the applesauce. I have fed her twice today as we are at work or driving most of the day, would it be ok to feed her a third time before bed? How long before she starts showing improvement?

Can you try feeding some bits of scrambled egg? It has selenium as well. There is some selenium in chickens feed, and it is present in the soil. Not much is needed.

Giving the vitamins is a good idea.

At her age, wry neck is less of a suspect but vitamins and good nutrition will help with all causes.

If she has trouble eating and drinking, look for one of casportpony's articles on tube feeding

Less of a suspect? What else would it be? Minus the neck she is otherwise healthy.

I can try tomorrow for the egg, and was thinking of soaking and mashing some of her normal food, Nutrena All Flock, for her to enjoy. I have been focused on the sunflower seeds for the Vitamin E.

Sooo the egg was a bit tough but got a smidge down with the applesauce. Made a egg/sauce mash that we will feed her with sunflower seeds on the side and see how this goes tomorrow.

A previous post listed injury, either brain or neck and mareks disease. It is rare for an older pullet that is nearly a hen to have a nutritional defect bad enough for wry neck.

I would suspect injury first but testing or a vet visit would be needed to know for sure

So she is a hatchery pullet and already has a crooked toe from birth. She has no visible injuries that I can see, and she does try to move her neck a great deal while I hold her. She moves and flaps around vigorously, though she does get sleepy while eating. Her poop is smallish splats that are mostly white with some green balls in it, which could be due to the enormous change in diet and stress. You can see she tries to move around alot, and she is loving the applesauce. I feel no broken bones, and I can help move her head and neck pretty smoothly, just not horizontal or up obviously. Just hoping we make it through this, having had chickens less than a year it is certainly a different experience.
