Tenn red: boy or girl?

Mibotsu, here are some pics of what it looked like when I had ducks in it. It is pretty much the same now except a few more weeds and no water in pond.

I wouldn't put that tenn. red in with any northerns until they are full sized, even then it's not a great idea. Reds tend to be more aggressive. Then if he/she dosn't beat they heck out them, they will probably cross which is your choice but just, please, be honest if you ever sell any offspring. That is a very nice aviary for quail, would just make sure that you don't get much more that you don't get much more that an inch of water in the pond. I wish you good luck with your quail venture.

looks absolutly awesome. quail love ground cover, is that log hollow? bunches of sticks are always fun for them, and they feel very safe there. if you want to keep them full time in there, i would go ahead and remove the pond and store it away somewhere, won't need it with quails. there are some good watering systems made by GQF for getting water to your birds, i guess you could go the all natural way for the most part as well tho.

This is what I love about this site....all the input from poeple in the know. I have Game bird breeder and I also have chick starter that I can feed. The only reason I was just going to let it forrage is because it was in the wild when we caught it and it looks pretty healthy to me. But I don't know quail. I just know ducks and chickens.

Wow, I absolutely love your duck enclosures! How wonderful to have such a natural setting for them. I have large ducks, they have killed or eaten everything in their pen and I let them out in the back yard for an hour or so each day and they have killed most everything in the back yard as well

I put together a quick feeder and put it under the one spot that has some covering. He or she is doing quite well and is not skittish at all. Here is a pic of it checking out the feeder for the first time

And here is a dust bowl that I found this evening. Looks like it is settled in. Thanks for all the help and input. Phil

It will have some company in a week. My welding instructor raises reds and red x georgia giant. I'm gonna get a small covey from him next monday. This little red still has not made a sound. Like all the other comments, I'm thinking hen.
