That's Hank. Poor thing has been despirate to sell alot of his birds for awhile. I don't know if I will attend, but if you go... let us in on the details when you get back!

....poor Hank, I don't think he's ever owned a single bird for more than two weeks. I bought/stole a very nice nest box from him a few weeks back. I'm fairly new to this, but before I left his place, I had to identify breeds and sexes of nearly forty birds. He's a biosecurity nightmare.

All of that being said, he's not maliciously trying to taint flocks or anything, he just doesn't know any better and considered some of the company he was keeping at Madisonville, he's learning from the wrong kind of chicken ranchers.

I agree. He posted about having some Buff Japanese for sale and I replied. His answers were enough to make me step back. "One is a Japanese... the others are crossed with Old English". THEN SAY SO IN THE AD! lol.

I never met him in person (not realizing it anyways) but I think he bought my light sussex pair at the trade. Was he there that day? I know someone bought my pair and now he has one pair for sale for $5 more than what I sold my pair for. I'm sure they are my old ones.

yeah, he is learning from the wrong chicken types.

+Yes it makes you wonder who does the judging at theses shows! Even a high school ag teacher should know breeds well enough to know whats not pure and they should be taken out of the show. It ruins things for people trying to raise good pure birds. I can't really gripe I guess since I don't show but I do show at the Leabon pigeon show in the fall and we do disqualifie birds that aren't pure.

After 2+ years of life getting in the way and more importantly researching breeds, coop designs etc...We are finally in agreement on EVERYTHING!!! We have started working on our coop area..And it looks like we are going to start out with 2 Jersey Giants, 2 Americaunas & 2 Marans...We are going to start out with pullets....We'll see where it goes from there! We were hoping to see more at the Wilson County fair also, but it was not our luck this year!
Looking forward to meeting some of you soon, esp the locals in Lebanon!

He's a young guy with a scruffy beard/goatee. He wears glasses and a baseball cap...I believe he was in a sleeveless T-shirt and shorts that day with a young teenage boy running around with him.

Were they the pair of guys parked next to me at the last sale? That was selling the buff hens and ended up buying the turkeys?

I'll be there (mailbox's willing) but I'll be leaving early (about 8ish). Don't know for sure who I'm taking yet.

One thing I'll be doing different is that I'm going to seperate by breed more. I think that would work better. Probrably the Red Cochin bantam boys and maybe some of my pullets (mixed lot of purebreds) - but I just don't know... I have real trouble letting go of any females.

I might also bring maybe one or two of my extra silkie boys.

SO MANY CHOICES!
