Tennessee

I been places in Tennessee today that I have never been and probably will never see again. But I am thankful to get to see more of our good state. I was in Savannah, crump, Waynesboro, Adamsville, and a ton of other places. I will have to get my daughter to tell all the towns we went through.

I don't get on here much...but you passed right by me :)
We happened upon Hardin Poultry on the way back from Shiloh Park- I was drooling all afternoon. I saw birds in person that I have only see on the internet before!

Harriman Roane County East Tennessee is an awesome place to raise backyard chickens, but you must, must, must beware of the predators. I bought my first chicks from Tractor Supply all Buff Orpingtons except for 2 Red Star and 2 Leghorns. Unfortunately, at about 10 or 11 weeks they were attacked by what I believe were raccoons. I lost them all in this one attack. It was a heartbreak for me no doubt as I had become attached to them and was loving raising them.
I had received an order of chicks from Murray McMurray 4 weeks prior to that fatal night, but they remained in their coop safe and sound. I made sure they were for sure secure after losing my others. My Murray McMurray chicks are 9 weeks old today. I have now built 3 coops to accommodate my 14 chicks and also to house another order of MM chicks that I am expecting on July 1, 2013 which is in about 10 days from now. I am enjoying raising chicks to chickens and find that they are becoming more interactive and friendly as we go. Especially the Cuckoo Marans. Here are some photos I made of them on yesterday.
