Anyone close to Portland interested in some silkies? I have a roo and three hens for sale. Also 8 parlor roller pigeons(the ones that can't fly but turn flips on the ground!)The rollers are all males!

NO MORE RAIN!! it was spectacular at the beginning of summer, but it really is too much of a good thing. our lake has overflowed, the pond is almost the size of the paddock it's in (which isn't small), and it's really difficult to finish Cluckingham Palace in a downpour!

Wow 50 horses! Thta is a pretty good size herd. How much land do you own! What kind are they? Sorry don't mean to be nosey, just never heard of any one haveing 50 horses at one time before!Lol

50 is actually just the estimate... i never know exactly how many we have at one time. last time i physically counted we were at 42 and we've had some come and go since then, so 50 sounds about right.

we're on 3,000 acres but almost 1/2 of that is mountain/forest. i'm the 5th generation of my family to live here on the farm. the hill that i live on is where my great-grandfather was born (that house burnt down). my parents, grandparents, sister and her family, and one of my uncles and his family all live on the farm too. that's why i don't know exactly how many we have. we've got lots that are just here enjoying their last years, some that belong to the family members who live in town, and a whole other group that is used for the equestrian school my aunt runs. it's a little nuts around here!

(you can see one of our horse pastures in the opening sequence for a Heartland Series episode, i think it's the 25th anniversary one. Bill Landry is standing on a little hill overlooking a snowy horse field with the mountains in the background... that's us!

eta: we've got mostly Quarter Horses, but also a good number of Thoroughbred/Quarter Horse crosses, a few Appaloosas, a couple Saddlebreds, 3 Arabians, 6 Ponies of various ancestry, and 4 Percherons.

so i was reading the other Tennessee thread and noticed that there were several poultry sales that happen regularly. can we maybe get a "Year in the Life of Poultry Enthusiasts" calendar going? i'll never be able to keep up with all this otherwise!

East Tennesseans: can someone tell me about the Sweetwater sales? there were a few others around here that happen regularly. info on those?

thanks!!

Never been to a sale. Sounds like fun but I don't have a holding pin. Yet.
Working on a pin for my bran new Indigi chicks. And hanging on to my two chicks that can't walk 8 wks old. Can't let them go because they try so hard.

I have not been to First Monday in Morristown but I have been to the auction there where first monday is also held. I am a bit leery of those sales as I have heard many come home with mites and lice.

Now I have been to a local show. Some real nice birds there but most are bantams. I know of a few large fowl breeders here but that is it.

BTW everyone get ready for a real bad and snow filled winter. All our rain is just a hint of what will come from what I have heard and seen.
