Hey neighbors I have some extra serama if anyone close by would like to get into serama. I can sell or trade. Would really like to trade on some pheasants but might be interested in other breeds of chickens as well.

Well, I've got to say that I am very excited this evening because DD #2 left Marble's coop door open and he got out into the open bay basement.
What!??!! Why would I be so happy?? Because I found him as we were leaving for church and the Boxer and Lab were both laying 20 ft away, looking right at him and not moving.

What a relief!!!! I plinked each of em' a couple of times with the BB gun when we first brought the flock home; every time they made any aggressive move toward the coop. Apparently it worked, so maybe now we can go free range if under close supervision.

it must be lucky chicken day all around today. my chickens survived the cows running through their fence . the fence fell in- 3 out of 5 panels were completely on the ground- and yet no one got squashed. they were out gallivanting in the cow field having the best time of their life. i felt bad putting them back up, but i couldn't stay with them and there are too many dogs (especially ones that don't belong to me) for that to be safe. i rigged the fence but knew it wasn't going to last more than a few days. it didn't even last 2 hours before one of the darn cows leaned against it and knocked one panel loose. again, the flock was uninjured and out having a little picnic.

i'm glad that everyone is fine, but now my fence is completely stuffed. i had to just go ahead and take it down because i was afraid it would fall again and injure one of the cows or horses. the birds are stuck in the coop for the time being. poor things.

I'm just glad you handled him so much. I was able to walk right up behind him, reach down and snag both legs without any fight. The others that I inherited hardly let me get within arms reach unless I wait until their roosting.

I'm backing out wegotchickens. I considered partioning off our barn, which sits on a much higer elevation than our house. But, when I considered the walk I had to make up hill to get to the barn, I decided to go with a new building on the same ground level as our house. Well, I thought about it for a couple of days and after looking at the cost and that I have a barn that I could partion off for the chickens--and for A LOT less money, I decided to forgo the new building.

So, this Thursday, Friday and Saturday I'm going to work on my barn and get a place for my chickens to call home. My pullets are dying to get out of their current home in my garage.

I don't blame you! I'd do the same thing if I had a barn.
Actually, if I had a barn the whole thing would be used as a coop LOL.
And I'd have to live in the loft because DH would kick me out
