Terminate or Let Die?

I have a 3 year old RR that had a bout with a respitory problem that was solved with antibiotics 3 weeks ago. She also lost allot of weight. Today she has that "I'm going to die" listlessness. It seems 3 years old is a reasonable lifespan.

Would you terminate or let her die on her own? I realize that letting her die on her own is easier on the owner, but do you think chickens suffer during this process?

I don't know the answer to that. But I am sorry you have to make that decision!!

Everyone else has good weight.

Her comb is turning white and she is huddled in a dark corner of the coop. I had one other that did this same thing before she passed.

Not having been in your situation, objectively and just from what i have read, if she has already had respiratory problems, and she's sick again, yes, i would cull - partly to ease her suffering, and partly to prevent any disease she might have from spreading to the rest of the flock.

So sorry about your hen. I know it breaks your heart.
