Hello everybody,

I am a new member, I have a pest problem and I would like to attach two pictures and when I try I get the message: you don't have permissions to create attachments. What should I do?

Thanks

LOL, sorry, I find it funny you come on a chicken forum.. and your first post is about bugs?

Try doing a google search and see what comes up.

Do you have any chickens?

Yes I have chickens and I have bugs, I would like to show pics so members could help me identify the bugs (I don't need to identify my chickens as I can recognize them as chickens).

Thanks

These are termites. The ones on the left are workers, the ones with wings are reproductive adults:

Sometimes during warmer weather, you'll see the adults flying around. After a certain period of time, they land, and rub off the wings. Notice how the workers seem not to have a "waist." Reproductive adults have the same body style, but their bodies are black, not white or nearly white like the workers.

These are ants (actually, they are my nemesis, the Imported Red Fire Ant - grrrr!) Notice how there is a definite division of the body into 3 separate segments; head, thorax, and abdomen. That is true for all ants, whatever the size or color. Ants also have a winged reproductive adult, but once again, the bodies have three clearly separate segments.

Did that help at all?

Thank you, I can recognize termites in your pics, it is not as clear on the pictures I have and I like to show but I can't use the attachment fiture here.

Please understand, the reason you can't post pictures is because you are a new member. The forum gets hit by a lot of spammers that post pictures and links to try to sell products, services, other websites, etc. By not allowing someone to post pictures until they have posted here for a while, they at least thin the spammers out a bit. I can't remember how many posts you have to make before you'll be allowed to post pictures, I'm sure it's in the rules somewhere, I just can't remember where.

I too find it slightly strange that your first posts are about bugs. Then I noticed you are a chicken owner, so maybe not so strange. If you have termites, then any books you have stored will be eaten up.

I had some boxes full of needlework kits and fabric etc. stored under the bed. When we went to move and I pulled out the boxes, many of them disintigrated. Termites. They ate the boxes and in a few cases started in on the needlework kits. The fabric they just soiled but didn't ruin.
