A few months ago i picked up a Lorp Rooster "6 months old" so in the future he could tend to my 30 new Lorp pullet's i bought. It came from egg_newton here on BYC. All of a sudden he comes down sick. He lays in the middle of the floor and just watches the girls run around him with his tail layed out flat behind him . He's pinned with 5 hen's, and 2 polish hen's. Before when i introduced him to the adult girls he loved trying to breed them, especially the polish. He would always crow and have his large curled erect tail up in the air. Now he just there in his own filth, he even goes to the nest boxes and gets inside thoe's to curl up and go to sleep. His comb and wattles are still red, but like a peach red....not as bright and waxy as it was before. His poop is runny and is baby green with yellowish tint to the urin part. He will just sit there and poo on himself. I have seen him eat and drink..but very small ammount's. I'm very worried for him because i do not want to lose him for my future pullets. Also im afraid for the other girls he's pinned with, i would hate for them to get sick to. This has been going on for about a week now, everyone else is acting 100%....except for the general. I have another pen in the same room sectioned off with wire to hold bantams. There is a millie fleur rooster who likes to fight the general through the wire from time to time. So maybe it's possible the banty roster scratched him and got him sick or hurt some how. I keep clean water, fresh bedding, good ventilation and visit everyone every day. It sometimes seems that he has a hard time keeping his balance when he get's up and tries to move. I'm very worried about him, i hope you guy's can tell me what i can do to make him feel better.

I have no idea, but I would isolate him from everyone else and give him some time to rest and feel better. If I didn't see results in a day or so I would start him on Corrid just because. I know other people might disagree but if it helps great and I don't think it would make him worse.

Maybe make him some scrambled eggs, or yogurt.

Other ideas welcome.

Throw the sink at him in the way of treatment... Dark green mean dehydration... I would start him on Sulmet for a few days with an antibiotic or Tetracycline mixed with it also.. No vitamins.... I would feed him cooked eggs and bread... (soft things and wet baby cereal).... Get him eating... after the course of meds... put him on Rooster booster for his appetite and return him only when he looks healthy... My guess is Coccidiosis.. or toxins... You can't do much with toxins but for Cocci... this is the cure. After he is eating well I would worm him.... (not while he is super week..) you may choose to feed him pumpkin as a natural wormer... that shouldn't hurt things too much... or ACV.

this "rooster booster" and "sulmet", what does it look like and where can i get it?? I might have heard of Tetracycline, but not really sure there either?

Well when i went to water them one day i noticed my water's had started to smell rancid and moldy. I wash and scrub the inside of my waterers about once a month. So i took every waterer and scrubbed with soap and water inside and out. "General was feeling sick before i decided to do this might i add" Maybe he drank a moldy section of water and got sick possibly? But if that were true, surely my other girls would be feeling it too...bu they are running around happy as clam.

was just told to inject some Duramycin 10 into his mouth with a syringe. How much should i administer to him during the day, and how big should the dose's be?? Also. how much powered do i mix in for each dose?

Loss of balance, green poo could also be Mareks.
