Terrimicin(sp) ?

We have been told to use 4 tsp per gallon, for our sick birds, chicks included. They need a stronger dosage than the directions on the bottle. And chicks and adults can have the same dosage. But, I don't think I would give them Terramycin just cause you had two runty chicks die, although it is commonly given for a lot of reasons; I know TSC uses it for chicks and it's no big deal. The first clutch of chicks we ever hatched (they were with their mom though) half of them died, for unknown reasons, and we were told by a local breeder here that was pretty normal.

I think the dose depends on the type (liquid or powder), and strength of the formula.
MM sells terramycin..they MIGHT be thinking of THEIR formula..which in my MM catalog suggests 1 teaspoons per gallon for maintenance 2 teaspoons for treatment.
what brand do you have?
4 tablespoons sounds too strong to me.
and not sure they even need it.

DLS...your chicks might have had shipping stress..could have been chilled, etc..
or some other problem.
what are you feeding?
what temp is the brooder?
are they eating and drinking?
are they alert?
how are the droppings?

how are the chicks doing?
are they eating and drinking well?

I generally don't treat chickens with antibiotics unless they are sick and showing symptoms.
