If you breed a Cameo cock to a purple hen you will get all cameo hens and IB cocks split to cameo and purple. A purple cock to cameo hen results in Purple hens and IB cocks split to purple and cameo.

I think it does the only thing I'm wondering though now is where does the IB come from? How do the IB peachicks come up when the parents are not? Is it just because it's Sex link color?

No, the basic genetic default color system in the birds is IB. There are two genes, or multiple pairs, somewhere that are always there and un-mutated that force IB by default. All other colors are mutations to other parts of the gene code and are not dominant in nature.

So, my final egg hatched. Low and behold, it's a cameo! It has no white on it like the other cameos, but I'm fine with that. Turns out that all the Blackshoulder chicks are cameo too, so that brings the tally to 6 females, 2 males. Again, this works for me, as I can always use more hens. I'm having doubts the father is split peach, but since he's got a long term spot here, he's got lots of time to tell us. I've also picked up a male I am certain is peach, who I'm going to add to the pen in a month or so. He will take over for next breeding season, allowing for a confirmation of "can cameo or purple be split to peach?" I may even add a cameo hen to really mix things up!

Did you find out what the chicks were from that pair? Do you have the pics of chicks when they are grown? Just curious as I have same kind of birds and I’m wondering what I will get out of them.
