Why didn't our chicks know how to eat for a while? That was sad...

Probably because you didn't teach them. If they were not hatched with a broody mum, then you have to usually have to show them to eat and drink by pinching the feed and water with your fingers.
Your chicks don't have to and usually wont for up to 2 days after they hatch as they still have enough nutrients from the egg to live.

How do you get a red splash chicken? Sorry not to sure on this one? Would you have to use a red laced bird or a RIR? ( do you know? )
How are double shelled eggs formed? They occur when an egg that is about to be laid is sent into reverse and a new layer of albumen covers the egg with another shell. Also you can get the egg that goes into verse and also join to another egg causing 2 eggs to be encased together in another shell.
What does FBCM stand for? French Black Copper Maran!

Not sure how this egg was formed maybe the egg went back and forth several times.LOL. The crazy bit id that she laid a weeks worth of them and the chicken ONLY eats rice!! I'm gonna have to change my hens diets.lol.

Ok, let me ask you this. What is mitochondria?

Not to sure how it relates to chickens but Mitochondria are the power of of cells, they make them or help in making them!
