Thanks! I can't believe how big the Marans are-they were hatched may1, went totally free range at 6 weeks and hold their own when I put treats out!

The marans are only 8 weeks!!
They're on my list but, like all the other ones I like, I have a hard time finding them anywhere other than a hatchery.Love her! She's so sweet and is a good layer. Most of the time she squats for pets when I go outside!
They will be 19 weeks old this Thursday. They get up on the roost during the day and hang out all the time. They just prefer to sleep on the floor at night, LOLYou can try again now for a fall harvest of sunflowers.
It is so funny your chicks won't roost. How old are they now? Do you have some lower perches? Maybe they are afraid of heights.![]()
This looks yummy!!
Yay for the raise!!!Okay so I'm not trying to be braggy but I have to tell SOMEONE.
I was just talking about chicken budgets..![]()
And my boss called me in and told me I got a raise! Second one since I started last September! $4k more a year!![]()
Your babies are so big! They all look like they get along well. Did you have any trouble adding them to your flock?
These are my girls! In the top left are the 2 EES, and right below them is my BA. Below her is my splash Marans, and right above her is the black marans, then the cuckoo marans, and at the top in the middle is the black copper. On the rt hand side is the mean PR-she lays double yolkers. Missing are the two other free loading PRs.
Add that to the long long list of wrongs!Look what O has done now. This is so wrong. I think everyone here will agree with me on this too.
Very nice! I love the Australorps too.

I checked on my chickens this morning, and all 8 were still on the roost! Hopefully some will get up there on their own tonight.
