Yea, she will be ok. Henless posted about it being 25 hours in between lays so maybe that's has something to do with it. I know that don't lay at night either so at some point they will kind of skip a day..... did that make since? LOL

ROFLMBO I love it. I really hate we all are not closer. Y'all make me feel so normal!! I tell my kids about what my ladies and roos do and they look at me like I am crazy. LOL I have pics like that on my phone too. DH looked about my pics the other day and laughed because there are more chicken pic on there than anything else. LOL

I love the house. It is very sweet looking.

I went out this morning to check on everyone and found that my BCM had laid an egg in the temp. pen. I either have to put a nest in there or get them integrated into the general population NOW> LOL

I was so excited!! Not sure if it was laid late yesterday evening or early this morning. I didn't notice it last night when I checked on everyone but I might have just missed it. Oh well. I can't wait to see what I get today. I keep hearing them singing the egg song but that's it. LOL It should be an egg-citing week!!!

Such a pretty egg!

I read somewhere on byc about the egg laying. Also, as they lay later each day, they will end up skipping a day since it is so late in the day.

I got 2 more eggs today. They were both in the nests! Of course, they were in the same nest!

Well I ended up with 3 eggs today. Both my BCM are laying. But they are in the temp pen and I tried putting a nest in there but it isn't working out, not the best setup. So I am really wanting to integrate them soon so they don't get in a habit of laying on the ground.

To funny!!
That's great that she laid again. Seems all her plumbing is working well! Lol
I just found another egg in my BCM pen. So BOTH of my girls are laying! The last one is lighter than the first one and some what speckled but skill darker than my BR.
I'm so excited!!!

I maybe a bit silly but I've been keeping a book about all my birds and I'm adding when they start laying and I'm recording the size and color. Anyone else doing something like that??
Not Silly!
I don't have a book, but I did remember what age everyone was when they started laying. I only have 6 so it's easier. I do mark the shells with a pencil though. I write their initials and the date on each egg.
And I kind of just remember a general size..Pearl's are the smallest, then Freya, Eloise and Little Hawk with the biggest.

I think I would do that. I want one of those egg scales that was pictured in the link I posted. I wonder if the feed store carries them.

I keep a spread sheet on all my bike rides. Distance, time, speed, weather and any other things I deem notable. Why not do the same for chickens?
I'm going today :) Need more egg cartons and oyster shell...my lovely daughter dumped my last bag into her pool....
I'll see if they have them. It might be hard to look around with my "blinders". I have to avoid the peep bins. lol. Fingers crossed they don't have any of the breeds on my list!

I was 4/4 yesterday!
Still working on getting them to go in the boxes...

Well doing my egg math, LOL Daisy should be laying some time after 4 today. She laid yesterday around 3 so today it should be after 4 and then we will see what happens tomorrow..... if the 25 hour thing keeps going on this track then she will be skipping a day real soon. Have any of you looked up how the eggs are being made inside our little babies. All these years, growing up with chickens and now owning them my self and I never knew what all was going on. Now I do....
God is so amazing in his creations!!

I have read that chickens like to use the same nest no matter how many boxes there are. People speculate they feel safer laying where another chicken has already laid. It was suggested to put fake eggs in the other nests, but also said it may not work.

They will probably follow the other chickens when they get put together. Monkey see Monkey do.

Isn't is amazing? It answers the question which came first, the chicken or the egg? I miss studying biology.

I am sooooo proud of myself! I went to pick up dog food at lunch time and I did NOT buy any of the super cute quail or really cool guineas that they had.

These are so tiny, and so stinkin' cute! You could hold 3 in your hand, if they would sit still, at one time. I was so tempted to get 5 of them.

These guineas are so cool looking. I love their racing stripes on their heads. I think these were just basic guineas so they will grow up to be grey. I'd love to let a few have at the bugs in my garden.

But I only bought dog food.

Now, if I can figure out what to keep the quail in when they get bigger (I have a cage that will work right now) I may be back for some. Quail eggs are super nutritious. Of course you need about 6 of them to equal a chicken egg.... lol!

When did you go?? lol
We went at lunch too! about 11:30 or so. Egg cartons and oyster shell.
I eyed the light yellow chicks but they looked like leghorns so I kept going.
They're just not on the list! lol.

I was there about an hour later. The yellow chicks didn't impress me at all. No temptation whatsoever. I did look, sort of, for an egg scale but didn't see any. I don't have a use for one right now so I didn't put much time into it. I like the vintage ones better too.

Sasha really likes the D&L Complete Canine dog food.

Yeah I looked and couldn't find it!
