Yes she was I had talked myself out of buying them. They was not what I was looking for today I wanted bantams Americana and all we could find was these. Was also looking for black silkies but none was there.

Been busy today. We also had a Tball game tonight, so haven't been in long. I've got my Mother's day gifts finished. I made two, one for my Mom and one for my Mother-in-law. There's 9 different herbs in there. Plus a couple of figurines, a snail and a frog. They smell wonderful! I might even make me one to keep up by the house. @A1momof3 ~ Hope everything is ok on your end. Haven't heard from you in a couple of days. :)
How am I just now getting here???? Lol I'm having a hard time keeping up with the original Texas thread..lol I am IN LOVE with your coop!!! Come do mine ! ;) Love it! Hope everyone on here is doing well!!!
Welcome Brookshire! This thread moves at a slower pace. A1mom, are you okay? Your husband is home, isn't he????? Hope you guys are having a great day! Lisa :)
I bet you are busy trying to wind everything up for this year. What grade do you teach? Pics??! It has been chilly these last few days. So glad mine have all their feathers are are "big" girls, lol, Except for sleeping on the floor. *sigh* Those are nice chickens! You'll get your coop one day. Maybe you'll luck out and get a freebie like LMH did! I got my bucket feeders done today. I did them all by myself too!! They look pretty good, just need the caulking to dry before putting feed in. I'll do that tomorrow evening or by Saturday hopefully.
Hey everyone! I'm doing ok, lots of ups and downs with this arthritis stuff. No officials DX of RA but the specialist said I have some kind of arthritis. Lol he put me on a month long steroid so I have now been on steroids for a month and a half. I hate it. I go back Tuesday and see what's next. It worked good to get the swelling down but after a bout 2 weeks the pain came back so who knows. We leave in a week to go on vacation and I'm ready. When I get back I'm going to expand my flock some. I hope y'all are all doing well. I started reading all the missed posts and then said wow, can't read all if that. So I would just post a big hi to everyone.

Hi. Hope I am doing this right to reply. I got the Jubilee eggs from California (an eBay auction). Wow- $80 for a chick - I guess I did ok even though I only hatched one out of the 5 I got- it cost me less than 80:) And the excitement of hatching added as a bonus.
Here is a picture of Fuzzy- our first ever hatched chick.

Welcome to the cafe! Love the pic of your Jubilee! I want to get some more Orps next year when I expand my flock. :)

Bummer! I was hoping they would come back. At least you found out how they got out.

for you and Loving over the loss of the chicks. :(

I like!!! I vote to keep the windows blue. Gives it a little contrast and makes it look more like glass.

We've had rain off/on all day. In fact, it's thundering now and just finished a short hard rain. DH got rained out, so we made a trip into Lowe's. He needed to get a light to put up in his shop, and while there, he wanted to pick up some posts to start my outside run. Yay!!
Thanks

It gave a little bit of closure. I knew they wouldn't make it through the night if they didn't come back, but I still kept lookin until she told me that.
I also saw a stray cat that's been popping up more frequently. I've decided to leave Archer out with them when no one can be there.
I work 8-5 but my husband works 3-11:30 so there's someone home for MOST of the day. At least Archer will keep anything away until the last one can get a little bigger.

I was at Walmart and had to run for it! I was wet down to my birthday suit!!

Oh no!

So here's my accidental Maran, Sadie.
She's suddenly super clingy. I've never had a chick do this multiple times, on it's own..

She does it to my husband too! lol

Glad you are back. Hope you have a good trip. My mom gets acupuncture for her pain (can't remember the name of what she has) in her back and hips. It helps a lot.

She is too cute!

My busy weekend turned out to be a kind of lazy weekend thanks to the weather. I guess it is good to slow down some. I did some baking. :)

I did some painting this morning before work. I don't have the twins today....

The trim on this side is all done. I need to paint the door and put on the second coat of the terra cotta color.
This is the last week of school so I am hoping to get more cycling and painting in starting next week. :) I miss riding my bike. I miss having a life outside of yard/house/work. :/

My computer is all upgraded now. Love it! It is like it is brand new. :)

Oh, do you want to see the before shot? This was taken the day we started moving in (Aug 2012).

Evening ya'll!

I did a little bit of work on my coop this weekend. I had to move the nest perches. I had them to close to the nests, making it hard for the chickens to get on. I noticed this a few weeks ago when one of the chicks would hope up there. I also put up a roost in the "open" end of the coop. I have it at 4 feet, hope that's not too high. I may have to lower it a bit.

@Ms Jellybean ~ Big improvement on your house! You've done tons of work since you bought it. I do like the color choices you are using. Look really good!

@A1momof3 ~ Welcome back! Hope you have a good time on your vacation. Where are ya'll going? I'm glad you don't have RA. There are a lot of different "arthritis" related disease. Hopefully your doc will find out what is going on so you can get some relief.

@Brookshire11 ~ Such a pretty hen! She misses her buddies and feels safer on you.

Has anyone heard from Hung lately? Just wonder how he and his family is doing.

Chicken question: I have 6 pullets who are 13 weeks old and 17 pullets who are now 3 weeks old. My brooder is going to be too small by the time the 17 get 6 weeks old. By then the original six will be 16 weeks. The brooder is a caged area of the coop, so they see each other. Do you think the 17 can go into the main coop at 6 weeks with the 6 16 week old pullets, or should I start building a new pen?

If they are able to see each other and don't seem to want to fight though the divider then you can always try it and see what happens. Mine seem to have worked it out when I mixed my 35 4 week old full size chickens with my 8 week old bantams. And they never seen each other until I put them together. The bantams did seem to stay at one end of the coop able the others stay at the other end. They did this for about the 1st week now they get along ok. At least when I am out there. I have not found any sign of fighting or pecking going on. I also mixed my 8 week old silkies with my new 3 week old Americana's. THe silkies seem to have decided that the Americana's are their new baby chicks and let them get under them to sleep. It's so funny to look at 10 3 week old chicks under 3 8 week old silkies. Not even sure that the silkies are hens or Roos yet. So if I was you I would let them in the same place for a few hours and watch them and see what happens. Start with just a few at a time.

Now that's encouraging! I could put some of the 17 Tinys with my 8 week old silkies (the Littles) and some with the older pullets (the Bigs). I thought maybe having 17 Tinys would overwhelm the 6 Bigs, thus keeping the Bigs from attacking, but I might put some of the Tinys with the Littles.
