Question for ya'll. I have 3 Australorps. One of them has a very large comb. I was just wondering if by chance it is a Roo? I"ve heard no crowing, but yesterday the large comb Aussie mounted one of my Barred Rocks. I know that hens do that on occasion, but since this one has a large comb, was just wondering.

This is the large combed Aussie. Head shot and body shot. I don't see any saddle feathers.

Henless, below is a picture of a Aussie rooster I found online. Comparing your picture to the one below, I would say you have a hen. Your picture didn't show the saddle feathers or the long feathers on the neck. Time will tell....

One of the Aussies I lost to dogs, was BIG like a rooster. Ken named her Stretch because of her size. She had a big comb. She was a fantastic mother and was the leader of the flock.

Wow! That is a gorgeous roo!

I've decided it is too wet to work on the house today. I've also had a headache since I woke up. I took some medicine and went back to bed but it's still hanging on. Not a fan of allergies.

It's still cool here and very cloudy. They aren't calling for rain but it sure looks like it could. I think I will bake a carrot cake and clean the house. I need a slower paced weekend. Working on the house every weekend is starting to take a toll on me. I'm tired....mostly of painting.

That is what I was thinking. She doesn't have the long feathers, just the big comb. He sure is pretty. Your hen was gorgeous! She sure was big too.

You do need to take a break. You've been doing a lot to your house. It looks so good!

@Brookshire11 ~ I didn't get a big one today, but I did get 6 eggs and no misfires!

It's been misting here off/on all day. We got 3.3 inches of rain Thur/Fri. Sure did need it.

Ahhh, im sick! :/ Popping vitamin c and drinking tea...
I really dont want to take a shot of tonic...lol
Everyone's laying today though! 4 eggs already then last one hunkered down to lay they hot some cheery tomatoes amd melon ring yesterday.
Oh! Lol, so I put some cherry tomatoes in the oven last night to make sundried tomatoes....I fell asleep while they were in there...lol
Hubbs pulled them out after he got home, and before he went to bed at like..2am. I cant tell if theyre burnt...but my 18 month old is gobbling them up! I hope I have some left for bread! Lol
